Italy

At one point in time Italy was a very religious country.  True most of that religion was bound in tradition, but at least the foundation of a belief in God was established.  Now it would appear as if the beautiful landscapes are over shadowed by disbelief and humanistic thinking.  Catholicism is on the decline, hope is diminishing and in the minds of many people God has gone in the same direction.  Italy is in desperate need of people who know God and will loving encourage those who live there to develop a relationship with Him.

Our Mission

We desire to zealously and loving display and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people that live in Italy.  We desire to see the name of Christ exalted and the importance of eternal life raised above the temperal.  Through personal soul-winning we desire to show people the biblical path to Heaven.  As people are converted and willing, we desire to baptize them and then to disciple them.  We wish to establish local churches where people may come to, learn, be encouraged, edified, and serve.  All this we desire to do through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Our family

My wife and I were both born and raised in Ohio. I was reared in a faithful Catholic family. I started going to a Baptist church in tenth grade with a friend. I moved to Columbus and searched for a church close to where I was staying. It was then that I discovered what standards are and began changing mine. A bus route took over my usual Saturday activities, and I found myself lingering around the church wanting to converse and be with the people of God. Upon deciding the Lord wanted me to go to Hyles-Anderson College, I received an application in the mail. The application asked me for my testimony of salvation. I had heard great preaching and had led others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, but was not born again myself. Conviction gripped me because I knew I was not saved. The next Sunday, on August 3, 2003, I repented of my sin and asked Jesus for His gift of eternal life. Not only did I meet my Savior, but I also met my beautiful wife in Columbus. She was reared in a Christian family. She and her family have always attended a Baptist church. At the age of nine, she raised her hand to be saved at a revival meeting that her church was having in August of 1993. She walked down the aisle and prayed with a lady friend in the church. Many years passed and she became very convicted about her salvation and questioned whether or not she was saved. Then on April 4,1999, after the Lord’s Supper, she got the reassurance of her salvation and was baptized. My wife and I both started attending Hyles-Anderson College in the fall of 2003 and we both graduated in the spring of 2006. We were married on July 1st, 2006. We started part-time deputation later that year and full-time deputation in September of 2007. Our Son William was born on December 9, 2007. We traveled to almost every state in America before leaving for Milan, Italy in 2010. We spent three months in Italy before needing to return to America for our visas, then in 2011 we returned to Milan and have been living in here since then. Our daughter, AnnMarie, was born in Italy on September 7, 2011.  Our second daughter Charlotte was born in Italy on March 11, 2017.

    Our Sending Church

The First Baptist Church of Hammond, IN is the place where most of my (Chris) spiritual growth took place. I was saved just one month before heading off to Hyles-Anderson College (HAC).  HAC is a ministry of the First Baptist Church and as such First Baptist was the strength of my college experience.  Each week we were able to apply the classroom lessons into real-life ministry.  We were teaching Sunday schools, counseling families, and praying for individuals long before the tassels passed over the apex.  We are grateful for every memeber of the First Baptist Church who has invested and made it the place it was when we arrived, and we are grateful again for those who were there and personally impacted our lives, and again for those who continue on.  What a great group of people.

    Our beliefs

Our beliefs are here not to divide but to specify. Our beliefs are based on God's words, not modern ever-changing humanistic philosophy.

SCRIPTURES — We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible. The Old and New Testament are definitely inspired word for word. We accept the Textus Receptus manuscripts from which came the King James Bible. The Scripture is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

SOVEREIGN GOD — God is a Person, eternally existing as a Trinity in unity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three Persons and yet but one God. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 8:6)

SON — Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, Who became a man totally apart from sin, being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1-15; Philippians 2:5-8; Colossians 1:15)

SIN — Man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing not only physical death but also spiritual death—separation from God. Now all mankind is totally depraved, having inherited a sinful nature; is bent toward sinning; and has become sinful in thought, word, and deed. (Genesis 1:26, 27; 2:16, 17; 3:6-19; Romans 3:10-23; 6:23)

SACRIFICE — The Lord Jesus Christ suffered and died as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He arose from the dead in the body in which He was crucified; He ascended into Heaven in the glorified body where He is seated at the right hand of God the Father as Head of the Church, making intercession for the saints as our High Priest. (Luke 24; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 5:8-10; Ephesians 1:20-23; I Peter 3:18)

SALVATION — Man is lost and must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God. Salvation is by grace alone through personal faith in the finished work of Christ on the Cross. (John 1:12; 3:3-7; Ephesians 2:8,9)

SERVICE — The local church is a group of believers baptized by water; banded together for edification, exhortation, and evangelism as commanded by Christ in the Great Commission; preaching the Gospel to every creature. (Mark 16:15; I Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 1:22, 23)

SECOND COMING — The Lord Jesus Christ Himself is coming again in the air at any moment to catch up His Church and to reward their service. The unbelievers leftbehind will go through a period called the Tribulation, after which Christ shall return visibly to the earth to set up His Kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. After this the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while the believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord. (Matthew 24:29-42; I Thessalonians 4:16-18; Revelation 19:11-20:15)
